Full Plot & Ending Explained

Intro

Peter Parker is enjoying a rare period of balance: Mary Jane Watson is starring on Broadway, Aunt May is proud of him, and Peter is planning to propose to Mary Jane while continuing his life as Spider-Man. At the same time, Harry Osborn, who now knows Peter’s secret identity, is still obsessed with avenging Norman Osborn’s death, while Flint Marko is on the run after escaping prison and trying to provide for his sick daughter.

Turning Point 1

During a romantic night in Central Park, a meteor crashes nearby and a black alien symbiote attaches itself to Peter’s scooter and later bonds with his Spider-Man suit. Around the same time, Flint Marko falls into a particle accelerator and is transformed into Sandman, gaining the ability to turn his body into living sand. Peter also learns from Captain George Stacy that Marko, not the man Peter blamed, was actually Uncle Ben’s killer, which fills Peter with rage and grief.

Turning Point 2

At a public event honoring Spider-Man, Peter impulsively kisses Gwen Stacy to boost his image, humiliating Mary Jane and damaging their relationship. Soon afterward, Sandman robs an armored truck and defeats Spider-Man, making Peter even more determined to hunt him down, while Harry attacks Peter as the New Goblin but falls and suffers partial amnesia, temporarily forgetting his hatred.

Turning Point 3

The symbiote fully changes Peter: his black suit amplifies his strength but also makes him arrogant, cruel, and aggressive. He becomes increasingly alienated from Mary Jane, who grows closer to Harry, and his behavior turns violent when he attacks Sandman with excessive force, only stopping when he learns the symbiote’s influence is corrupting him.

Turning Point 4

Harry regains his memory after a vision of his father and pressures Mary Jane to end her relationship with Peter. Peter, now acting under the symbiote’s control, fights Harry, but their battle ends with Harry being badly injured after the symbiote’s influence pushes Peter further out of control. Peter later rejects the black suit, but the symbiote survives and bonds with Eddie Brock, who becomes Venom and joins Sandman in seeking revenge on Peter.

Turning Point 5

Peter and Harry reconcile and decide to face Venom and Sandman together. During the final battle, Venom and Sandman overwhelm them until Harry sacrifices himself to save Peter, allowing Peter to regain control and destroy the symbiote by using sound and fire, while Sandman reveals he never meant to kill Ben and had only wanted money for his daughter’s treatment.

Ending

Peter forgives Flint Marko and lets him escape, then visits Mary Jane in the club where she is singing. The two reconcile, and Peter and Mary Jane finally begin rebuilding their relationship after the destruction caused by the symbiote, Harry, and Sandman.
