Intro
In the kingdom of Corona, a magical golden flower that can heal wounds and reverse aging is discovered by Mother Gothel, who uses it secretly for centuries until it is taken to cure the queen, and the queen later gives birth to Princess Rapunzel with magical blonde hair that retains the flower’s power.
Turning Point 1
On the night Rapunzel is born, Gothel cuts a lock of her hair to test it, sees the hair lose its magic, and kidnaps the infant princess, hiding her in a secluded tower and raising her as her own while lying that the outside world is dangerous.
Turning Point 2
On the eve of Rapunzel’s 18th birthday, she longs to see the floating lanterns that appear every year on her birthday, while palace guards and the king and queen continue releasing lanterns in hope of finding their lost daughter.
Turning Point 3
When Flynn Rider, a thief who has betrayed the Stabbington brothers and stolen the lost princess’s crown, hides in Rapunzel’s tower, Rapunzel knocks him unconscious with a frying pan, hides the crown, and forces him to guide her to the kingdom in exchange for returning it.
Turning Point 4
As Rapunzel and Flynn travel toward Corona, they are chased by palace guards and Maximus, the determined royal horse, and Rapunzel begins to discover her own independence and her growing feelings for Flynn, while Flynn learns that Rapunzel’s hair glows and heals when she sings the special incantation.
Turning Point 5
Mother Gothel tracks them down, manipulates Rapunzel into doubting Flynn, and later has Flynn captured by the Stabbington brothers before Rapunzel reaches the palace; however, Rapunzel notices the repeated sun-and-flower symbol and realizes she is the missing princess.
Turning Point 6
At the lantern ceremony, Rapunzel and Flynn reunite, Rapunzel confirms her identity, and Flynn is betrayed by the Stabbingtons and jailed, while Gothel takes Rapunzel back to the tower and keeps her trapped again by emotionally controlling her.
Ending
Back in the tower, Flynn escapes, returns to rescue Rapunzel, and is fatally wounded by Gothel, but Rapunzel’s tears heal him when she is forced to sing the magic incantation, causing Gothel to lose her youth, fall from the tower, and vanish as Rapunzel is reunited with her birth parents and Crown, now free at last.
