Full Plot & Ending Explained
Intro
After the failure of Mechagodzilla City, the survivors aboard the Aratrum are stranded in despair, with Haruo Sakaki blamed for destroying humanity’s last major weapon and Yuko Tani left brain-dead by nanometal exposure. On Earth, Haruo is brought to the Houtua village, where he begins to recover while tensions rise between the human survivors, the Houtua, and the Bilusaludo, and the Exif priest Metphies quietly advances his plan to summon King Ghidorah.
Turning Point 1
Haruo is reunited with the Houtua twins Maina and Miana, who shelter him and teach him their simple worldview of “winning” by surviving and “losing” by dying, while Dr. Martin Lazzari confirms that Yuko is only being kept alive by nanometal in her body. At the same time, Metphies reveals himself as far more dangerous than a mere ally, insisting that the Exif god can still be brought to Earth and that Haruo must help make it happen.
Turning Point 2
The conflict aboard the Aratrum escalates when the remaining Bilusaludo demand revenge for Haruo’s destruction of Mechagodzilla City and accuse the humans of ruining their chance to absorb Earth through nanometal. Their revolt cripples the ship’s engine room, while on Earth Metphies manipulates events through ritual and faith, drawing his followers into preparing Ghidorah’s arrival.
Turning Point 3
Maina and Miana lead Haruo to the ruined remains of Mechagodzilla, where Martin discovers that Yuko’s nanometal can reactivate the dead technology. Haruo realizes that any attempt to rebuild civilization through nanometal will repeat the same cycle of domination and ruin, but Metphies presses him toward surrendering to Ghidorah as the only way to kill Godzilla.
Turning Point 4
Metphies performs the summoning ritual with Endurph and the Exif cult, using Haruo’s spiritual weakness to open the way for Ghidorah. The dragon appears first as a shadow and through space-time distortions, devouring Metphies’s followers and destroying the Aratrum in orbit before descending toward Earth, where Godzilla is drawn into a catastrophic battle.
Turning Point 5
Ghidorah overwhelms Godzilla at first, but the Houtua’s Mothra egg and Maina’s intervention purify Haruo’s mind and expose Metphies’s true role as the agent of the dragon. With Haruo refusing to become Ghidorah’s vessel, the ritual collapses into betrayal, and Godzilla regains the chance to strike back as the Exif plan is exposed.
Ending
Haruo chooses to end the cycle by sacrificing himself in a final attack on Godzilla, taking the last usable craft and crashing into the monster in a kamikaze strike. Godzilla’s atomic breath incinerates Haruo, the Ghidorah threat is destroyed, and the surviving humans later live under Houtua-influenced customs, while Haruo is remembered as the one who prevented humanity from repeating its destructive past.
