Intro
Cecilia Kass escapes from her abusive, controlling boyfriend Adrian Griffin, a wealthy optics engineer, by drugging him, slipping out of his highly secured house, and fleeing with the help of her younger sister Emily; she then hides with her childhood friend, police detective James Lanier, and his teenage daughter Sydney.
Turning Point 1
Two weeks later, Cecilia learns that Adrian has supposedly committed suicide, and his lawyer-brother Tom Griffin tells her that Adrian left her $5 million in a trust to be paid out over four years as long as she is not convicted of a crime.
Turning Point 2
Cecilia begins to experience impossible incidents that make her think Adrian is alive: she senses an unseen presence in James’s house, loses her job interview after her portfolio contents are secretly removed, is told by a doctor that she has unusually high levels of diazepam in her system, and then finds the bloodied diazepam bottle she used to drug Adrian hidden in her bathroom.
Turning Point 3
Cecilia meets Tom with James and insists Adrian faked his death using his optics expertise, but Tom denies it and says he too was manipulated by Adrian; later, Emily receives a fake insulting email from Cecilia’s account, Sydney is struck by an unseen force and blames Cecilia, and James tells Cecilia to leave after he believes she is unstable.
Turning Point 4
Alone at the house, Cecilia finds Adrian’s phone in the attic and receives a text saying “surprise,” then dumps paint through the attic trapdoor and coats an invisible figure, proving someone is there and confirming her fear that Adrian is stalking her.
Turning Point 5
After more attacks, Cecilia discovers that Adrian has built an invisibility suit and is using it to terrorize her; when the invisible assailant escalates matters, Cecilia’s life becomes directly endangered and the people around her begin to doubt her even more.
Turning Point 6
The hidden battle comes to a head when Cecilia realizes that Adrian has manipulated events to isolate her, and she decides to confront him on her own terms, using his own technology and surveillance against him.
Ending
Cecilia exposes and overpowers Adrian, forcing the truth into the open; in the final confrontation, she traps him and turns his invisibility scheme back on him, ending his ability to control and torment her.
