Full Plot & Ending Explained
Intro
Five years after Godzilla’s battle with King Ghidorah, Kong is being monitored by Monarch on Skull Island inside a massive dome, where he lives with the Iwi girl Jia, who communicates with him through sign language and has a strong bond with him.
Turning Point 1
At Apex Cybernetics, conspiracy podcaster Bernie Hayes uncovers suspicious data suggesting secret activity at the company’s Pensacola facility, where Godzilla suddenly attacks. During the chaos, Bernie discovers a huge concealed machine, while Madison Russell hears about the incident through Bernie’s podcast and teams up with Josh Valentine to investigate Godzilla’s attacks.
Turning Point 2
Apex CEO Walter Simmons recruits Hollow Earth theorist Nathan Lind to help lead an expedition to find a power source in the Hollow Earth. After Walter reveals that Apex has built HEAVs to survive the gravity conditions, Nathan convinces Ilene Andrews to let Kong guide the mission through an entrance in Antarctica, hoping Kong can help them reach his true home.
Turning Point 3
Kong is transported by ship under heavy restraint, but Godzilla attacks the convoy in the ocean and defeats him before retreating when the ships fake their destruction. To avoid drawing Godzilla’s attention, the team airlifts Kong to Antarctica, and Jia persuades him to enter the Hollow Earth tunnel with the HEAVs following behind.
Turning Point 4
Inside Hollow Earth, Kong and the human team discover the ancient realm and its powerful energy source, but Madison, Josh, and Bernie separately break into Apex’s hidden facility and are accidentally sent by underground transport to Hong Kong. There, they witness Apex testing Mechagodzilla, a giant mechanical Titan remotely linked through Ren Serizawa and the severed head of Ghidorah, though the machine is still unstable because its power source is insufficient.
Turning Point 5
Walter intends to use Hollow Earth energy to fully power Mechagodzilla, but the system becomes dangerously overloaded. Kong eventually reaches Hong Kong, where Godzilla arrives too, sensing his presence and blasting a hole through the city to confront him. Godzilla and Kong fight fiercely, with Godzilla ultimately overpowering Kong, though Kong survives after the humans use an electric jolt to revive him and help him rejoin the battle.
Ending
When Mechagodzilla breaks free and attacks both Titans, Godzilla and Kong are forced to cooperate. With Jia’s help, Kong strikes the final blow by tearing off Mechagodzilla’s arm and head, ending the machine’s rampage. Afterward, Godzilla and Kong acknowledge each other and cease hostilities, with Kong settling in Hollow Earth as Godzilla returns to the surface.
