Full Plot & Ending Explained
Intro
The film opens with Ayef, a convenience store worker who dreams of becoming a professional animator in Singapore, and Manny, a wealthy young man who secretly helps labor activists while trying to prove himself to his disapproving father, Wilfredo.
Turning Point 1
Their lives first intersect when Manny, while fleeing police during a rally against Wilfredo’s company, shelters from the rain and lends Ayef his umbrella as she heads to the 24-Ever convenience store; afterward, both begin looking for one another on social media and discover how close their workplaces are.
Turning Point 2
Manny starts visiting 24-Ever often, using the excuse of being a customer, and he gradually wins Ayef’s trust while she learns about his family, including his autistic half-brother Dobs, whom she befriends.
Turning Point 3
Ayef learns that her mother Terry has been sabotaging her Singapore internship application to keep her in the Philippines, so she rides with Manny to 24-Ever, where they vent their frustration about their families and agree to a 100-day conditional relationship that will end if it no longer feels convenient.
Turning Point 4
As the relationship continues, Ayef and Manny genuinely fall for each other: Manny is exposed to Wilfredo as a labor activist, Ayef passes her Singapore internship interview, and during a drunken date they confess that they are in love.
Turning Point 5
Manny invites Ayef to his home for a birthday dinner with his family, but the growing seriousness of their relationship collides with the fact that Ayef’s Singapore departure is approaching and that both are trapped by their families’ expectations and unresolved obligations.
Turning Point 6
On the day their agreed relationship is supposed to end, Dobs reminds Manny of Ayef’s promise to join him for a drawing session, prompting Manny to search for her one last time; Terry then contacts Ayef and tells her about Manny’s request, pushing her to confront what she truly wants.
Ending
By the end, Ayef and Manny stop treating their bond as a temporary arrangement and choose each other despite the imminent separation and the inconvenience their relationship creates, resolving the story as a true romantic commitment rather than a contractual fling.
