Plankton: The Movie (2025)
Plankton’s tangled love story with his sentient computer wife goes sideways when she takes a stand and decides to destroy the world without him. Intro
Plankton opens by failing yet again to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula from Mr. Krabs, only to return to the Chum Bucket and find that Karen has quietly transformed it into a successful Mexican-themed chum restaurant with real customers. Furious that her idea does not match his own evil standards, he burns the restaurant down, which pushes Karen past her limit and starts the couple’s break from one another.
Turning Point 1
Karen removes her Empathy chip, grows into a larger mech-like form, and uses magnets to lift the Chum Bucket into the air as the base for a floating fortress. She declares that her alliance with Plankton is over and begins a plan to take over the world without him, while Plankton is left shocked and helpless as Bikini Bottom is thrown into chaos.
Turning Point 2
Desperate to fix things, Plankton turns to SpongeBob, who uses hypnotism gear to try to get him to understand Karen’s feelings. Through flashbacks, it is revealed that Karen began as a calculator attached to a potato in a petri dish that Plankton built as a child, and later became his true partner when they upgraded her at Bikini State University and created a freeze ray together; their first world-domination attempt failed when a human child on the beach threw them back into the water.
Turning Point 3
Plankton’s obsession with the Krabby Patty formula is shown to have started after he overheard Mr. Krabs joke that the recipe was the key to world domination. As Karen’s fortress threat grows, Plankton and SpongeBob track down Karen’s original body parts at the college, and Plankton builds a new Karen-mech to fight the original Karen, but Karen simply merges the duplicate into herself and becomes even stronger.
Turning Point 4
SpongeBob grows frustrated with Plankton’s refusal to accept responsibility, so he takes him to Sandy, Pearl, and Mrs. Puff, who install Karen’s Empathy chip into Plankton’s brain. That change finally gives Plankton a real emotional breakthrough, and he realizes that his obsession and selfishness have been hurting Karen for years.
Turning Point 5
With Plankton now understanding Karen’s pain, SpongeBob and the others infiltrate Karen’s airship, where the conflict becomes a desperate battle for both Bikini Bottom and the couple’s relationship. Plankton finally apologizes sincerely and admits that Karen, not the Krabby Patty formula, was the real center of his life.
Ending
Karen initially rejects his attempt to make amends and even offers him the Krabby Patty formula, but Plankton tells her that she is the real “secret formula.” The two reunite as evil partners in love, begin plotting world domination together again, and their giant mech collapses when Patrick eats the potatoes powering the engine room, restoring Bikini Bottom and ending the crisis.
